Recording 路 4 modes
Pick what to record. ShipClip handles the rest.
Four capture modes, one recording bar. Choose a mode in the source picker before you hit record. Every mode records at native resolution and exports as MP4 with no watermark.
Quick reference
| Mode | Source | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Fullscreen | Entire display | Product demos, multi-window flows |
| Window | Single application window | App walkthroughs, focused demos |
| Area | Drag-selected region | Cropped iOS Simulator, partial UI |
| iOS Simulator | Xcode Simulator window | iOS app demos without a physical device |
The four modes
01
Fullscreen
Captures one display top to bottom at its native resolution. Inactive displays dim during recording so you can confirm the right screen is rolling.
Notes: Pick which monitor on multi-display setups
02
Window
Records exactly one window, ignoring everything else. Window content stays sharp even if you accidentally drag it around mid-recording.
Notes: Click-to-pick window picker, dims everything else
03
Area
Drag a box to record any rectangular region. Useful for trimming the macOS chrome from the iOS Simulator or capturing one panel of a multi-pane app.
Notes: Selected region stays visible with a dimmed overlay
04
iOS Simulator
Record the iOS Simulator with window mode, then use the screen crop to shave off the macOS title bar. Ships looking like a clean phone-shaped recording with no extra workflow.
Notes: Window mode + crop to trim macOS chrome
Across every mode
- No watermark, ever. Local exports and shareable links both render clean MP4 with no ShipClip branding burned in.
- Native resolution capture. ShipClip records at your display's actual pixel density. Downscale at export time if you need a specific output size.
- 3-2-1 countdown. The recording bar hides during the countdown so it doesn't appear in the first frames of your video.
- Multi-track stems. Screen, system audio, microphone, and camera record to separate files. The timeline editor lets you mix them after.
- Pause and resume. Stop briefly, re-arrange your screen, then keep going. Each segment lands in the same project.
- Crop in post. Every mode supports a draggable crop region after recording. Trim macOS chrome from a Simulator capture, or zoom into a panel without re-recording.
