How it works

  1. Drop your MKV file or click to browse.
  2. Click “Convert to MP4” and wait for the conversion.
  3. Download your MP4.

Runs in your browser using WebAssembly. No upload, no server. The only limit is your browser’s available memory.

Why convert MKV to MP4?

MKV is a flexible container, but most devices don’t support it. Phones, tablets, smart TVs, and social platforms all expect MP4. Converting gets your video playing everywhere without quality loss.

Will I lose quality?

Usually not. If your MKV already uses H.264 or H.265 (most do), the converter re-muxes without re-encoding for zero quality loss. When re-encoding is needed for codec compatibility, it uses H.264 at high quality. The result looks identical to the original.

Is it private?

Your file never leaves your machine. FFmpeg runs locally via WebAssembly. No data goes to any server. Close the tab and it’s gone.

What about subtitles?

MKV files often contain embedded subtitle tracks. This converter handles video and audio only. For subtitle control, use HandBrake.

Record directly to MP4

ShipClip records your screen directly to MP4 on Mac, so no conversion is needed. Zoom into clicks automatically, add captions, then share a link. See who watched and where they stopped.
