Area Recording
Drag to select a rectangular region of your screen to record.
How it works
Choose area mode and your screen dims with a crosshair cursor. Drag to draw a rectangle around the region you want to capture. The selected area stays clear while everything else stays dimmed, so you can see exactly what you're getting.
Press Esc at any time to cancel and try again.
When to use it
- Recording part of a window (a specific panel or sidebar)
- Capturing a region that spans multiple windows
- Making a recording at a specific aspect ratio without resizing windows
Tips
- The minimum selection size is 100×100 pixels. If your selection is too small, ShipClip will let you try again.
- The selected area is highlighted with a colored border so you can confirm the boundaries before recording starts.
