How it works

  1. Click “Start Webcam” above.
  2. Allow camera access when your browser asks.
  3. See your feed with resolution and frame rate info.

No video is recorded or stored. Close the tab and the stream stops immediately.

Why test your webcam?

Five minutes before a client call is a bad time to discover your camera is using a 480p fallback device. Common issues: wrong camera selected (especially with external monitors), another app holding the camera (Zoom, FaceTime), or a system settings permission that got revoked. This tool catches all of that in seconds.

Camera not working?

  • Click “Allow” on the browser permission prompt.
  • Close other apps using your camera (Zoom, FaceTime, Photo Booth).
  • On Mac: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → enable your browser.
  • Try Chrome or Firefox. They have the most reliable webcam support.
  • External camera? Unplug and reconnect.

Multiple cameras?

A dropdown appears if you have more than one camera. Each one shows its resolution and frame rate so you can pick the best device before recording.

Ready to record?

ShipClip records your screen and camera together on Mac. Your camera appears as a draggable picture-in-picture overlay with automatic background removal. Viewers see you and your screen, no green screen needed.
