Builders Map
“A pin-drop directory of indie builders that turns the city you live in into a co-founder search.”
The review
What it is
A world map with 706 builders pinned to it, plus their projects. Dr. Dave kept showing up in every “what are you building this week” thread plugging it, and the page lives up to the pitch: pan to your city, see who’s nearby. I dropped down to Mesa and there I was, building ShipClip, next to a handful of other Phoenix-area pins.
What stood out
The match feature. You filter co-builders by location and skill, not by follower count. Every other builder directory I’ve seen sorts by clout. This one sorts by “who could you grab coffee with on Saturday.” That’s a different product.
Who it’s for
The solo founder who’s tired of building alone and wants a real human within driving distance to swap notes with. Less useful if you’re already plugged into a local scene. Very useful if you moved somewhere new and don’t know a single other person who ships.
What I’d push back on
706 is a healthy start, but the map gets sparse fast outside the major metros. The matching is only as good as the density. Nothing the maker doesn’t already know · this is the early-stage problem of every directory.
Bottom line
Drop a pin. Worth it just to see who’s in your zip code.
