Permissions
ShipClip needs a few macOS permissions to work. Here's what each one does and what happens if you skip it.
Screen Recording
Required. ShipClip uses ScreenCaptureKit to capture your display. Without this permission, the app can't record anything.
You'll be prompted the first time you try to record. If you accidentally deny it, go to System Settings โ Privacy & Security โ Screen Recording and toggle ShipClip on. You'll need to restart the app after changing this.
Accessibility
Recommended. This permission lets ShipClip track your cursor position across all apps and record keystrokes for the keystroke overlay feature.
Without it, cursor tracking is disabled (so zoom-to-click won't work) and keystroke recording is limited to when ShipClip's own window is focused. Everything else works normally.
Grant it in System Settings โ Privacy & Security โ Accessibility.
Microphone
Optional. Required if you want to record your voice. ShipClip records mic audio as a separate track that you can edit independently.
If denied, mic recording is disabled but screen and system audio recording work fine.
Camera
Optional. Required for the camera picture-in-picture overlay. ShipClip records your webcam as a separate track with optional real-time background removal.
If denied, camera PiP is disabled but everything else works.
Speech Recognition
Optional. Used for automatic subtitle generation. ShipClip transcribes your audio using on-device speech recognition to create subtitle overlays.
If denied, the subtitle feature is unavailable. Recording and editing work normally.
